****Rescue on Lake Union**** December 23, 2008

Tuesday evening December 23rd the m/v Fremont Avenue just finishing our final Christmas Cruise for the year. As we were making one last loop around Lake Union taking in the city lights and the boat lights. First Mate Sarah Jesser spotted a shape going into the water from another boat. She came up to the pilot house and said that she thought a person was in the water. As I brought the boat around Sarah confirmed with the binoculars that there was a person in the water about 200 yards away. She then gathered up her life vest, the ring float, night beacon, recovery line and opened the starboard gate. During this time she was continually shouting and whistling to the person in the water that we were coming to him.  As we came alongside the man in the water Sarah lowered the ring float and recovery line. The man in the water was then pulled aboard by Sarah and a volunteer party guest Dan Pope. He was immediately brought aboard, partially stripped and wrapped in blankets and placed by the cabin heater. The harbor patrol was called during the rescue and was alongside soon after the rescue.

The man was spotted at 10:05pm, brought aboard at 10:08pm and transferred to the Seattle Harbor Patrol at 10:20pm.

GREAT JOB Sarah !!
